Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB are proud patrons to 29 Second Level Colleges. We are so pleased and delighted for the students who have done so well in their leaving certificate and for their teachers and staff who support them. Here is a reflection from one of our Second Level schools – Lucan Community College.
Lucan Community College Leaving Certificate Results 2019
Excitement filled the air in Lucan Community College on Tuesday morning as graduates of the college gathered to receive their Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied results. Principal Diane Birnie said that the results were of a very high standard with 14% of the students achieving over 500 points and 40% of students receiving over 400 points. Our Leaving Certificate class received an amazing set of results with 90% of our students receiving either a distinction or merit. Many students celebrated amazing results in specific subjects and teachers and parents joined the celebrations throughout the morning. “The class of 2019 stood out for their support for each other and their strength of character. It is wonderful to see our graduates rightly proud of their academic achievements also”, said Diane Birnie.
The college had 9 student taking the LCA exams and 117 were listed for LC exams. Many of their teachers were on hand to congratulate students on their achievements and to wish them well in their future endeavours. We were also delighted to hear news that some of students have already secured employment and apprenticeships over the Summer.
Parents, guardians, families and friends supported and guided students throughout their second level education and especially during the examination period and the college relies on and appreciates this support and involvement. The college community thanks the students for their contribution to the college during their time here and is confident that the future holds wonderful things in store for them all.
Ms Casey, year head, offered congratulations and best wishes to all of the students and said “I am so proud of them all and I hope they follow their dreams and reap the benefit of their hard work. Remember too that there are plenty of roads to reach the top of the mountain. I will miss them all”. Ms O’Gara was on hand as career guidance counsellor to offer advice to students receiving results and will offer advice again when the CAO offers are published.
Principal Ms Birnie and Deputy Principals Mr Purcell, Mr Brett and Ms Kirwan offered particular congratulations to top Leaving Certificate achievers this year including: Rian Porter, Oisín O’Sullivan, Petra O’Connor, Darragh Bacon, Beatrice Black, Kaitlin Byrne, Luke Neville, David Donnelly, Aoife Mahon and Alex Healy. Our top achieving LCA students were Hollie Erskine, Reme Onolememen, Chantal Howe, Joshua Foley and Cammie Chung and who all achieved distinctions.
Many students achieved personal best results and can be proud of their achievements. We remind students who may not have achieved their desired results to engage in the process of viewing and/or appealing scripts through the Candidate Online Self Service Portal and to seek advice from career guidance counsellors and support agencies as there are many paths open to students. We hope that all of our graduates celebrate responsibly and wish them the very best of good luck in the future.
